Press On: a complete set of bookmarks, one from each library
Press On: a complete set of bookmarks, one from each library
Press On is an adventure that will take the printing bike from library to library across Britain printing bookmarks along the way. Each bookmark design will be inspired by the words and images of writers and artists in support of public libraries.
There will be around thirty different designs and this is a complete set of bookmarks, one from each of the libraries visited during the project. The bookmarks will be either typographic or illustrative. Each will be printed letterpress and inspired by someone with a close connection to the particular library, often a writer, a poet, an artist. The illustrations will be lino cuts or from blocks and the type hand set lead or wood type. They will support this adventure that takes place from July to October 2024. The bookmarks will be sent out at the end of November 2024. The bookmark shown is the design for the first library on the journey designed by the artist Richard Long for Redland Library in Bristol, the library that Richard would visit as a child.
