fforest is a book of nature.

Working with Sian Tucker of fforest in Cardigan Wales, Judith Hannam of Kyle Books and using the beautiful photography of Finn Beales, we designed a book that celebrates being, doing and making in nature. A design that would reflect the tranquility, simplicity, balance and beauty of Sian’s words and Finn’s images. Stories, folk tales, poetry, quotations, recipes, instructions, memories, information all needed to sit alongside each other, with their own style to lead you through the book. The endpapers were photographed by Nick: Sian’s collections of seeds, plants, fruit and moss from a morning walk bathed in the light from the window of the beautiful old farmhouse kitchen at fforest farm. Colours inspired by the palette of fforest and titles created by Ellen Bills at The Letterpress Collective using beautiful old wood type.
